The 204M features a rich vibrant sound with excellent tonal projection. Yamaha R&D conducted extensive field tests with leading bands, and has redesigned the bracing for a more open 'free-blowing' feel. The overall balance has also been changed making it more comfortable to hold and play, while the slide configuration has been reworked improving both intonation and tone qualities.
This new mellophone offers newly designed valve slides and bracing points to improve intonation and create the sound that is preferred by such groups as the 8-time DCI World Champion Cadets Drum & Bugle Corps.
